This event has now passed.Beijing’s dark and idiosyncratic post-doom quartet Nekroma have announced the release of their second EP Asura and are embarking on a tour that will take the band across Asia. After gigs across China, Thailand, and Cambodia, Nekroma will return to their home base, joined by SWARRM and Haze Maze for a night of heavy mayhem at DCC on October 10.
Nekroma is an experimental post-doom quartet based in Beijing. While the group began as a collaboration between the post prog trio Nakoma and husband and wife electronic art project Guiguisuisui, Nekroma has taken on its style and identity distinct from the two bands that forged it. Drawing on a range of influences from all over the globe Nekroma utilizes vocals, skateboard guitar, lap steel guitar, drums, bass, cello, and synths to create a backdrop for carnival of intriguing characters including King Nekro, Pumpkin Queen, Diavolo Rosso, and The Hanged Man.
They present twisted fairy tales and Lovecraftian fantasies, while live they mix theatricality akin to a Bela Lugosi horror film with digital paintings created in real time using the groundbreaking Tagtool app that are then projected over the band, creating a feedback loop between sight and sound.
SWARRM is Infatuated with the truth of life, pain, suffering and death. You won't feel good unless you love the urgency of dying.
Haze Maze is a unique addition to the Beijing scene. The band composed of members from other Beijing bands, Macondø, SHA!, Silent Speech, and Peking Floyd. Their music combines atypical time and song structures with a sensibility for melodic lines and vocal hooks. Fans of varied bands like Tool, Portishead, Dou Wei, and Primus will find a lot to love with Hazemaze.
