Valery Afanassiev, a Russian pianist, writer and conductor, won the Concours Reine Elisabeth piano competition in Belgium in 1970 as well as the Bach Competition in Germany in 1968. Since then, he's continued to make a name for himself around the world, partnering with some of classical music's greatest players.
