Daystar Academy offers a 50/50 bilingual education to children aged 22 months to 12 years.
The toddler programme is focused on language acquisition and social development, while 3-6 year olds in kindergarten are immersed in half-day English and half-day Chinese Montessori programmes. Similarly, elementary students spend half the day studying China's National Curriculum for literacy, maths, visual arts, physical education and music, and the other half on English-literacy using the US Common Core Standards as the benchmark, as well as world studies, science, maths and performing arts.
The school has integrated a unique character development programme into academics, events and service-learning projects. Even in their organic lunch programme, where the students sit in school families, they share the responsibility of tidying up using food-grade cleaning products.
