International Women's Day

The who, what and where of International Women's Day in Beijing

March 8 is International Women's Day, an opportunity to reflect on the continuing fight for gender equality around the world or, alternatively, drink away the pain of being paid less than your male peers. In 1975, women in Iceland marked the occasion by going on strike to demonstrate the value of their contribution to society, and succeeded in getting an equal rights law passed in parliament.
