If you’re after something even more warming than a beer jacket or don’t fancy a glass of crushed ice in your hand, try a hot cocktail from some of Beijing’s cosy drinking spots.

A grown-up hot chocolate is the classic cold weather treat, but we’re particularly into the minty rendition at Mesh at The Opposite House (68RMB). Valrhona dark chocolate meets crème de menthe for a creamy but punchy bedtime beverage.

The cocktail connoisseurs at The Black Moth know a thing or two about mixing things up. The berry blazer (100RMB) mixes black tea, goji syrup and flaming white and dark rum for one of the smoothest storms in a teacup we’ve had in a long time, or ever.

This year, they’ve come up with three smokin’ hot cocktails to warm your cockles with. Our favourite is the Kraken Cove hot buttered rum (60RMB), which is made from a spiced butter mix that’s packed with assorted spices and brown sugar.
