Oh golly gosh it's really heating up in here! We've scoured through your abundant (and often deeply offensive) suggestions for pie fillings and have whittled it down to six contenders for the coveted prize of a free pie a week for a year. But how to choose?
Here's how it's going down. Over the next two weeks, puff pastry perfectionists Matt and Andrew will slave over a roasting oven to create our pick of the top six contestants. Then a select panel of Time Out Beijing writers and local culinary experts will come together in the buttery den that is the Two Guys and a Pie empire to judge and pronounce a single winner.
We will be announcing the winner in two weeks so look sharp, pie innovators, and watch this space.
Like the Shanghainese dish 'beggar's chicken': chicken, scallion and soy sauce.
And a slightly lofty attitude. From 'Beijing4eva'.
Two Guys and a Thai
Chicken, potatoes and green curry sauce. Maybe you could also hide two small
sausages in each pie. From 'Simple Simon'.
Pierate of the Caribbean Sweet potato, chicken,
coconut and a bit of chili (and maybe a dash of lime/rum). From 'Sparrow'.
Pie Italiana Three parts Spinach, boiled or stir fried with a bit of olive oil, salt and pepper
and then cut in small pieces. One part Bechamel sauce, quite liquid in order to make the filling soft and moist. One part Ricotta cheese. From 'Giacomo Romagnoli'.
