The End is Nigh! Jon Stewart is abdicating his throne. After serving for 16 years, Jon Stewart's last show as the host of popular satirical news programme, The Daily Show, is this morning (11am Friday, local time).

His career helped popularise satirical news programmes in the US and launched the solo careers of other comedians, including Stephen Colbert and John Oliver.

Stewart was a luminary of incisive political criticism, social commentary, funny faces and, of course, dick jokes. Without him, American politics unchecked is sure to descend into idiocy – on a completely unrelated note, Donald Trump is currently polling at 19 percent. God help us.

To celebrate his legacy, we've pulled out the big puns, choosing five of our favourite videos of Jon Stewart on China.
