In a dining scene where pork mince is often used as a garnish, Beijing's vegan and vegetarian options can, at first glance, feel particularly scant. The good news, however, is that vegetarianism in China is on the rise
, a trend no better evidenced than by the arrival of Beijing's first-ever plant-based festival this September.
Taking place in Twenty-Two Art Zone (outside Today Art Museum
) from September 22 to 23, Pop Plant-Based Festival is set to feature a market with over 100 vegan food vendors, an outdoor fitness festival, loads of live music and an evening afterparty.
Pop's market will be offering a broad range of organic and green brands selling everything from food, sporting goods, clothing, art, beauty and more, while FitFest, an outdoor sports festival, will feature fitness coaches leading classes in yoga, Zumba, aerobics, CrossFit and more. For non-fitness fanatics, head over for a plant-based party night (dubbed Rock Moon Night) from 7.30pm onwards for live DJs, food, craft beer, organic wine and cocktails.
Vendor registration is currently open for Pop Festival, so if you're a green brand that would like to get involved, sign up here
. Time Out readers can also currently receive a 10 percent discount by entering 'timeout123
' at the checkout, so don't miss out! Participation in the market costs 1,200RMB (one day) and 2,000RMB (two days), while a spot at the evening party costs 1,600RMB (one day) and 3,000RMB (two days). For more information, add WeChat ID maxgoesforlife.
