Danish high-end audio-visual brand Bang & Olufsen
has big plans for the China market; despite having recently closed 125 stores worldwide, an expansion in Asia is imminent. Selecting Beijing as the location of its first Experience Centre might seem like a bold choice, but the managers have clearly done their homework: the store is located above the brand new Bentley showroom, an appropriately flash location for its beautifully designed home environment and state-ofthe-art products.
The history wall presenting iconic items from the ’60s and ’70s is designed to tap into the Chinese consumers’ thirst for heritage products, while the furnishings are a clever mix of Chinese-inspired materials and Scandinavian design. They mesh well with the futuristic-looking – though rather expensive – products on show, which include projectors, speakers and televisions that can be controlled by smartphones and tablets.
The brand’s quirky Play Series includes stand-alone, portable products that can easily be integrated into daily life, including the A9 speaker (19,999RMB).
