Ever been to our regular classical music event, Sunday Salon? Not to blow out own (French) horn or anything, but it's pretty awesome – whether you're a classical music buff or not.
Time Out Beijing's Sunday Salon takes you behind the scenes of China's classical music, featuring a different classical music luminary each month.
Hosted by Time Out's Stage editor of over a decade, Nancy Pellegrini, the salon is made up of discussions with, and performances from, the esteemed guest. Sunday Salon has had some of China's biggest names in classical music, and this month is no exception.
One of the pieces you can look forward to hearing at this month's Sunday Salon [VPNs on].
It takes place on a Sunday (duh) at The Bookworm. For us, the coolest part is seeing some of the wold's most accomplished musicians playing pieces on the rickety old Bookworm piano. Not an experience you see every day!
Take a look at our Sunday Salon archive, including audio recordings of the performances, for more information.
The RUC Trio
For this month (Sunday 23 April), Time Out is thrilled to welcome emerging superstars The RUC Trio to the Bookworm.
This stellar piano trio is making a pit-stop in China before embarking on a comprehensive European tour. Pianist Fang Zhang is a multi-awarded pianist and chair of the music department at Renmin University, while violinist Cheng Yawei, among other accolades, has played with Yehudi Menuhin and cellist Ying Wang studied with Yo-Yo Ma. Their programme will incorporate crowd-pleasers from Piazzolla, Mendelssophn and Kreister.
