Earth Day is back on Monday April 22 and this year the focus is on protecting animal and plant species around the world.
Founded in 1970 by US Senator Gaylord Nelson (no, we’re not making that up), Earth Day has become a worldwide celebration of our planet – home to over 7.5 billion people and something we can’t live without (well, not for a while anyway). In Beijing, where we battle through the smog day after day, the importance of helping out the environment is abundantly clear.
Luckily, there's plenty of ways to do your part, and these events are just the tip of the iceberg. Keep your eyes peeled for our guide to being eco-friendly in Beijing, but until then, start right here, right now.
