Register to be a table host for the 11th Chi Fan for Charity

Get good food for a good cause that empowers visual-impaired children

Chi Fan for Charity, the city's most-celebrated charity-dining event is returning for its 11th run. Starting next Monday, you can sign up for a seat at some of Beijing’s best, tastiest, hottest and most extravagant restaurants – all for a good cause.

The 2019 Chi Fan for Charity will take place on Saturday, November 9, with 59 of the city’s top restaurants (and counting) donating tables of 10. Beijingers will pay a per-head price to host tables at the spot of their choosing, and then head off to a boozy all-you-can-drink after-party at CHAO Hotel.

For the charity element of the night, all proceeds will benefit Bethel China (bethelchina.org), a Beijing-based NGO that helps and empowers blind and visually impaired children around China through early interventions. Since its founding, it has cared for over 2,000 kids and assisted with over 130 adoptions.

An estimated 400,000RMB in funds is expected to be raised by the Nov 9 event, and help fund two Bethel initiatives that provide vision-impaired children an equal chance to live life to their fullest.

-Scholarships for low-income families whose blind or visually impaired children would otherwise be unable to attend Bethel’s programs, which teach Braille, daily living skills, mobility, and music. The CFFC funds would be able to subsidize the education of 11 students for a full academic year.

-Four separate family training sessions outside of Beijing, which counsel groups of families unable to send their children to Bethel, which is located in the Fangshan district of Beijing. The trainings, which aim to reach 200 families, focus on teaching them on how to care for their blind children.
