Take a Napa
Chi Fan for Charity returns on April 17 with a new look and theme – ‘Napa Valley Style’. Five venues, including the new Brasserie Flo, Grange Grill, Maison Boulud, Vasco’s and Temple Restaurant, will all play host to four tables of 11 (800RMB per person). Each table gets its own personal vintner to talk about the wines with the meal, and proceeds go to the Children’s Hope Foundation, a Shunyi-based home providing life-saving medical attention and long-term care for orphaned kids. Café cultured
A recent addition to the ever-growing café culture of Village North is
MS Bonbon, which opened up at the tail end of January. It’s a cute little café, found next to Colibri, serving sweets and light lunch fare. Set lunches, including a pasta or risotto and a drink, start from 58RMB.
Spice of life
Great Leap Brewing plays host to the Houhai Chilli Cook-off in March. As well as the opportunity to down the odd Great Leap beer and taste some amazing chilli, you can also enter the competition yourself. If you think you’ve got the best chilli in town, send an email to backalleycookoff@gmail.com by Saturday 10 with three sentences on why you and your creation are the best in town.
Off the record
Look out for a talk from
