Beijing is blessed with more cute little jewellery and bag shops than you could possibly visit in a lifetime, but only a few really stand out. Here are our favourite spots for picking up the little extras that no stylish Beijinger can do without.


Ziwu (子物)

Ziwu showcases a fine selection of leather goods. The main focus of the thumbnail-sized shop is on bags, both vintage and hand-stitched by the owners. You’ll find everything from small clutches to mid-sized totes and backpacks. Prices range from 100RMB to 1,500RMB.

Ubi Gallery

Ubi Gallery specialises in jewellery and ceramics, primarily featuring designers from Asia and many with international backgrounds. Pieces are unique, with many designers we haven’t seen elsewhere in Beijing. It’s a gorgeous array of work – we only wish our pockets were deep enough for one of everything.

Jahanavi Bhaskar Laag, a Delhite raised in London, says her shop gives Beijingers a taste of what real Indian gems are all about with her collection of accessories from India’s young, hip designers. Expect to see beautiful hand-stitched clutches made from raw silk (800-950RMB), elegant earrings (starting at 200RMB) and glittery goodies that are a far stretch from gaudy.
