LTL differs from most other Chinese language schools by only employing teachers who hold a university degree in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language and who chose teaching Chinese as a full time career. Classes in Beijing are taught either at the CBD campus in groups or 1-on-1 at students's homes and offices. There are no additional charges for classes in town (inside the 4th ring road), evenings or weekends.
Full time daily (Mon-Fri) Chinese courses start every Monday and part-time evening (7-9pm, Mon/Wed/Fri or Tue/Thur) classes once a month.
For those who want rapid progress, the school offers complete immersion programmes for a weekend, week or several months in Chengde (not to be confused with Chengdu!), two hours outside Beijing. The birth place of modern Mandarin, people in Chengde speak almost accent-free Chinese, but usually not a word of English. As the old Qing dynasty capital Chengde has a lot of of history and sights, is surrounded by mountains and is a place where students have to speak Chinese all day, like it or not.
Accommodation is with Chinese homestay families, classes are taught 1-on-1 and language progress is quick, but even though the school has a long-standing team of local support staff, teachers and homestays, you'll still need some flexibility when it comes to cultural adaption. The food at the homestays tends to be outstanding.
