This is more a shop than a bar, but you can still try whiskies by the glass.
Boasting a wide-ranging inventory from all around the world, whisky connoisseurs will be hard pressed to find a better place in Beijing to look for that particular, elusive bottle they’ve been searching for in vain since coming to China.
Ai Whisky’s extensive collection of Scotch single malts is particularly impressive and includes distilleries all across Scotland from the Highlands (Aberfeldy, Glenmorangie, Oban) and Speyside (Aberlour, Glenfarclas) to Islay (Cao Ila, Ardbeg) and the Isle of Skye (Talisker). It also consists of several rare bottles that are difficult to obtain even in Scotland including a bottle of Talisker 35 year old single malt (8,750RMB) of which there are only about 3,000 in the world.
While Scotch makes up the majority of the stock, you'll have no problem finding bottles from Ireland, Japan and the States. They have an extensive line of bourbon whether you're looking for small batch or single barrel and a heap of Japanese single malts.
Ai Whisky has a website (www.aiwhisky.com
) where you can peruse or order, but it’s best to visit the store as some bottles aren’t listed online. The shop is open daily from 10am to 11pm. While you’re there, sit down for a free tasting and chat with the owners, and fellow whisky enthusiasts, Erick and Helen about your tipple of choice.
