60RMB cover (includes a free drink). Drinks around 40RMB.
Drinks For creative names and fruity flavours, look no further than the hot stud (35RMB) and men’s world (50RMB). Keep your distance from the YMCA (40RMB) if you’re sensitive to spice; hot like Sichuan cuisine, it’ll do a number on your stomach.
Music A dose of disco gets the dancefloor hopping upon our arrival. There’s no better genre for a gay club, as far as we’re concerned. Unfortunately, it doesn’t hold. Club bangers predominate from there on out. We might be put off, but the crowd keeps boogeying all the same.
Ambiance One bar is bedecked with cuddly bears. The symbolism is not lost on us. The layout takes some exploring, so much so that newbies may need a map. On the whole, it’s noticeably no-frills, content to merely serve its function as the grand-daddy of Beijing’s gay clubs.
Crowd Jubilant and shirtless. Gay in all senses of the word. We wouldn’t be surprised if there was a sign-up sheet for the stripper pole; it got loads of attention throughout night. The dance floor itself is more crowded than a Chinese train station during Golden Week, with plenty of energy, to boot. We’ll say this: it’s a vibe you can get behind.
Worth it? Do yourself a favour and get on that pole. It’s your destiny!
