The former premises of the Qinghua University alumni building doesn’t exactly sound like the most glamorous location for a bar, but trust us when we say it is. In fact, Yin has more glamour than most bars can only dream about.
The reason? It’s on the rooftop of the design hotel The Emperor and enjoys some of the most breathtaking views in the whole of Beijing. Perhaps the first bar with a vista to rival those along Shanghai’s Bund, its location just north of the East Gate of the Forbidden City allows drinkers to take in unspoiled views stretching from Jingshan Park in the north, to the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and even Mao’s Mausoleum in the south – all lit up like Christmas trees.
As well as the (unsurprisingly) pricey bar (57RMB Tsingtao and 67RMB gin and tonics are the order of the day at Yin), the classy wooden terraced roof also boasts a jacuzzi. One of Beijing's most unusual bars! One of Beijing’s Coolest Outdoor Bars!
The perfect spot to take out-of-town friends to show off the city’s charms or simply to wile away a warm evening enjoying the auspicious surroundings, Yin has the potential to be a world famous bar – and everyone deserves a rooftop jacuzzi session with a glass of champagne and a view into the Forbidden City at least once in their lives don’t they?
