This café was popular at its original Nanluoguxiang address until landlord drama relocated them right down the street from Cafe Zarah. But the new space, formerly a cafe called e.a.t., is better than the old with a blackboard menu and a warm welcome spread over two floors.
Have an afternoon cocktail on the roof or grab a board game and have a few rounds with friends. We recommend sitting in the sun, overlooking the hutong rooftops and listening to life’s gentle banter on the street below, while sipping some homemade ginger brew or a stiff drink.
Folks flock for the apple/pear tart, although it can be iffy, but the restaurant’s famous silky almond tofu, labelled blancmange, with signature goji berry, is the perfect light summer treat. An assortment of lasagne and bread-heavy sandwiches are popular options.
