Hutong Pizza is an institution for a reason. Hidden down a side alley in the neon-lit tourist hellhole of Houhai, inside is as comforting as the pizzas served.
Large, American-style square pies arrive without fuss, served on giant, paper-covered slabs. Prices come in around the 70RMB mark, but steer clear of the cheaper, mediocre, tough-crusted calzones. The pizzas themselves are thin-crusted gems, big on toppings and gentle on the sauce. The surprise inclusion of Leffe beer on the menu is a welcome (if pricey) addition. Gareth Clark
