The lead singer of Chinese indie scenesters Carsick Cars, Zhang Shouwang is a self-confessed music obsessive. He grew up scouring the hard-to-find record and instrument shops of Beijing. Here, he reveals one of his favourite stores.
'There were many more record shops around Wudaokou and Xinjiekou when I was a kid. There are few left now, but the best one is Blue Line Records. They have experimental stuff, old Chinese pop, Japanese music and even early electronic music. When I was in high school, I’d go there every Saturday, when the new CDs arrived.’
