The vibe’s pretty summery: wooden decking, water features and a view of the Workers’ Stadium towering over everything. The long, rectangular bar should allow for great service in theory, but that all went to pot when we were there.
On regular nights, residents spin Balearic vibes. Most weekends, Uper+ is gamely hosting some of the city’s best party crews. NB Noise took care of the opening party, while the Party Worms team are keeping things funky with a regular-ish night under the stars. Entrance is
free most nights. Budweiser and Tsingdao are both 50RMB a hit, while the cocktails seem like better value at the same price. Plus, the piña coladas go down oh so easily on a sweltering evening.
This place is a laid-back rooftop bar on week nights, with some up-and-coming club nights on the weekends. It’s still too early to tell which way it will go – we’ve seen a lot of Gongti clubs start with good intentions only to fall back on the same haggard formula – but we have high hopes for Uper+.
