This studio offers a lively, nightclub-style approach to spin classes, with sessions provided on a pay-as-you-go basis.
Unlike your standard spin class, at Gu Cycle it’s more like dancing on a bike: Dada meets Tour de France. UV lights are switched on, music is turned up and the beat sets the pace.
Trainers, known as ‘sweat squeezers’, get your whole body moving, using dumbbells while you pedal to work on arm, back and core strength. With 26 stationary bikes crammed into the small studio, space is minimal, but the intimate setting only helps to egg you on – like riding in a party peloton.
With no subscription fees, at Gu Cycle you can spin as much or as little as you want, with single classes for 160RMB and packages at a reduced hourly rate (up to 80 hours for 100RMB per class). Sessions are managed through the Gu Cycle app (available on Apple and Android stores), where you can buy class credit using Alipay or WeChat, book your classes and even add personal preferences, such as bike settings and cycle shoe size, so everything is ready before your arrival.
Insider tip You can book up to three bikes per account for each session, so if you can’t afford to bulk-buy classes solo, share an account with a couple of friends and you could each save up to 60RMB a pop.
