Ever wanted to know more about Beijing’s history or China in general? The National Library is the city’s biggest and best equipped, with a huge English language section cramming in the titles.

It’s also home to China’s famed oracle bones and thousands of historically valuable papers, though sadly they’re not available for public viewing.

Take your passport or a Chinese ID card if you want to get access to the reading rooms.
