Following a recent buy-out, the former culinary goods mecca known as Pantry Magic was transformed into a brand new store under the moniker Cuccina. The original outlet is still located in Gongti, but there's now an even larger space at Indigo.
Selling a whole array of kitchen furnishing and gourmet cookware from the very best international brands, this store is for serious chefs and culinary novices alike. The former will love the walls devoted to bakeware or the extensive knife cabinet that would keep the hicks from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre entertained, with brands including Le Creuset, Swissmar, Typhoon and DeLonghi. The latter will enjoy quirkily shaped moulds, condiment tins and cookie jars (30-300RMB). Other highlights include a large selection of water filters, bread makers and coffee machines, and on our visit there were lots of discounts and promotions.
We were particularly enamoured with the slightly less practical gelato maker (4,290RMB) and fondue set (1,115RMB). Oh, for a life of ice cream and cheese.
